The Indonesian prodigy, SERUNI BODJAWATI creates paintings and films born from
Javanese puppets and gamelan music, but inspired by Western artists, including Dali,
Cocteau, and Frida Kahlo. Besides painting and films, her prodigious creative output
includes poems, short stories and essays. She has been the recipient of numerous
national and international awards, including, at age 21, the “Most Inspiring Woman in
Art and Culture” presented by Indonesian First Lady, Ani Yudhoyono.
